Beginning in 2000, some states began to honor licensing from other states under the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC). In 2018, the process was further streamlined through the Enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC), which included updated standards for licensure, such as the requirement that applicants undergo state and federal fingerprint-based criminal background checks.
As a nurse, this opens the door to many more exciting travel assignments across different states.
